Happy New Year 2013!

New-Year-2013Happy New Year to all of you. I hope evryone had a great start into 2013. May it treat us well with lots of luck, success, new friends and lots of interesting experiences. But most importantly, I hope we will all stay fit and healthy – easily forgotten sometimes but so essential.

A lot of people recently told me that they want to change their lives in 2013. Some want to look for a new job, others want to find a new place to live and yet others want to change personal aspects of their lives. I think change is great and brings out the best in us. If you don’t go forward, you go backwards. But change is always challenging and never easy. Staying in your cofort zone is way more comforting. During the last year I spent a bit of time thinking about these issues. I felt the need for a change and I’m hoping 2012 3 will bring what I was hoping for.

If some of you maybe need some motivation for taking that final step for a change, I found a great source of inspiration. A few years ago Steve Jobs, founder and former CEO of Apple Inc., one of the greatest minds of these days, held a very inspirational speech in front of Stanford graduates. It was about living each day as it were your last and making the most out of the limited time you have.
The same day I read an article about this speech I coincidentally picked up a postcard with his key quote of that same speech. I don’t know if this was a sign, but it definately inspired me to do this trip which is about to start.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

The card by the way, will be in my backpack to accompany me and remind me of why I’m doing this. There is so much truth in his speech that it can be applied to alomst every aspect of life. Maybe it will be inspire you as well.
