Mekong Dreaming in Luang Prabang.

Mekong Dreaming in Luang Prabang.

This was taken in the evening of my first day in Luang Prabang. The two Belgians Chris and Dolf had split in Nong Khiaw in order to meet up again in Luang Prabang at 6 pm that same day. They had to ride their motorbikes down and I took the local bus. After I got myself sorted out, I went down to the banks of the Mekong to watch the sunset before meeting the guys. I heard the views were supposed to be amazing. This was definitely no exaggeration and I went down to the water where all the longboats were anchoring. The longboat on the picture just pulled in and the guy on the roof did the last smooth adjustments with his long bamboo rod. Not many people around at that moment and a very serene atmosphere. However, this would be the exception for my entire stay in Luang Prabang as I would soon have to find out….

Stunning photo. You were lucky to catch that figure with the long pole in the shot – very effective and creates a lovely silhouette.

      Hey Victoria,
thanks for your feedback. Yeah, sometimes you just have to be lucky and very quick as well. This time I was lucky and there have been other times where I have been rather unlucky. It’s all about the right moment. I actually had a little bit of cropping to do on this one but now I am quiet satisfied with it. By the way, I love your photos … very professional and great compositions. Greetings from Laos, Philipp

I agree with you about the right moment. I’ve been incredibly lucky with some of my animal photos.

Just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your journey. Fascinating places. I haven’t been anywhere in Asia since 1975 and can no longer travel now, so I am just an armchair traveller. But I get a lot of pleasure out of seeing other people’s travel photos.

Hi Victoria, how come you can’t travel no longer? I am very happy that you follow my blog and take some inspiration out of it. That really keeps me going. By the way, I also like animal photography…it is very interesting and can also be very funny. Which animal do you like to take pictures of most? Thanks again for your nice feedback. Greetings, Philipp
