As I pointed out in my About-Page, I quit my job in market communications to go travelling Southeast Asia. Although it was a dream which I had for a long time and the situation to take this step was objectively right, I still had a hard time deciding to do it. Looking back at it, coming from a country where status and especially security is a major trait of society, this “struggle” is probably a normal phenomenon.Luckily, I am now very happy with my decision and I am sure, that if I had decided otherwise, I would have badly regretted it at one point in my life. In the end, nothing is worse than missed chances.
If you are in a similar situation, I’d like to give you some inspirational quotes which might be of help. They sure were for me. Check it out …
The adrenalin and stress of an adventure are better than a thousand peaceful days!
Paulo Coelho
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
Mark Twain
One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now!
Paulo Coelho
A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.
Lao Tzu
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
Saint Augustine
Not all those who wander are lost.
J.R.R. Tolkien
Without new experiences, something inside of us sleeps. The sleeper must awaken.
Frank Herbert
And last but not least, the motto quote of this blog from one of my favorite authors:
If you are brave to say “good bye”, life will reward you with a new “hello”.
Paulo Coelho
I’d be happy if some of you find inspiration in these. Do you have any inspirational quotes you want to share? Feel free to add them in the comments below.
Incredible – I have read several books written by Paulo Coelho – didn’t know he was such an inspiring adventurer 🙂 ! Thank you!
Hi Angela, apparently he is. His books are great, aren’t they. He’s got so many inspiring quotes as well. Glad you stopped by. We’ll catch up tomorrow 😉
Paulo Coelho fan!? =) I liked the third one the most – “One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now!” Coelho made a tweet of this quote, and I liked it since then.
But for my About page I picked “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” Probably because when I wrote it, I was thinking it doesn’t have to be from East to West travel. For as long as it was a new place, it’s a new page. Maybe, I’m just frustrated that I can’t get out of this country!LOLs. Then, sometimes I even wished I’m a guy so it’s easier (and probably safer) to travel, even alone. I think, I need more motivation. 🙂
Hi Joie, thanks for stopping by my blog and yeah, I am a big Paulo Coelho fan. He sums up the concept of traveling really well and I like his writing style. I also like the quote you put on your blog, it is so true. Where exactly are you from? Why do you think you can’t get out of your country. I think it is always possible if you really want to. maybe you can try a short trip first to see how it goes and then just take it from there. I am sure, once you start you will have enough motivation to keep going…it gets addictive. Keep me posted if you are giving it a try…would love to hear about it. Greetings, Philipp
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I truly appreciate your efforts and
I will be waiting for your further write ups thanks
once again.
Hey Carrie,
thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your feedback. Comments like yours really motivate me and keep me going. Sometimes it’s quiet a bit of work to keep this blog alive and running. I couldn’t do it without positive feedback like yours. Thanks again. I hope you will find the upcoming posts interesting as well. Feel free to drop a line or two anytime…. Greetings from Bali, Philipp
Howdy! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it very difficult to set up your own blog?
I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out
pretty quick. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to start.
Do you have any points or suggestions? With thanks
It depends on what you wanna do with it. Is it just for enjoyment and letting people know about your thoughts or interests? Than just try setting up at WordPress.com. That is really easy to manage and they have good features. If you are looking into doing it more professionally, look at wordpress.org which is self hosted. Need to know a little bit more to do it but also offers more options and more freedom. It really depends. I would just start if I was you and then take it one step at a time. There are enough youtube tutorials out there that can help.
Inspiring quotes. Love this one the most : One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now!
I ave one of my own too : “Life is a journey….not a destination!” (a tekst from Amazing by Aerosmith)
Both are very true… and the first one bears so much truth. I am experiencing that right now these days. We should really do things now and not wait… It might be too late later on …
